We want to thank Jen for her stunning vintage-inspired junk journal made up of all the Mic Moc stationery products (a collaboration pack) we had sent her in addition to her purchase. It took Jen about three weeks to complete her junk journal and as you can see from these images--she did a splendid job of complementing our rubber stamp images, wax seal impressions, stickers, PET tapes, rub-on stickers, letterpress postcard, petite portrait vintage photo replicas and our collage papers from a few different themes, with her signature grunge style!
Here's what Jen had to say after embarking on the project:
I had so much fun playing with the collaboration pack! Seeing so many beautiful images instantly inspired me to start creating. It had been those numbered ‘metal tags’ from the Grunge Numbers PET tape which first inspired me to create some 'dangly' embellishments. Once I started I couldn’t stop and so I just kept adding more to it: labels, stamps, wax seals and so on leading up to a big stack! Initially I didn't think I'd get to use them all in one journal but I did! I ended up really loving that multi-layered overflowing look! The inspiration for this junk journal really came from the Mic Moc stationery products themselves: there are so many vintage images and elements to catch your eye and the beautiful vintage colours stand out for me. For example, the dark reds and burgundy labels were my inspiration for the entire colour scheme. Using the vintage red shades as a focal point I combined it with the neutral (naturally aged and yellowed) papers to maintain the grungy look.
It was hard to pick which images to use at first because I was spoiled for choice! Looking at all the products it immediately sparked 4 different projects in my head all at once! { working on a postal themed happy mail as we speak } I spent about three weeks working on this Mic Moc journal using mainly their beautiful vintage-inspired PET tapes, rubber stamps, stickers and other paper products throughout the project. Though it took me a few weeks I didn’t work on it daily—I much prefer to take my time and put away my work , then look at a project with fresh eyes every couple of days—it's just the way I create my art!
These were the materials I used in this project (all from Mic Moc):
